Help

I am constructing a deck from 90mm Merbau 20mm thick which I need to screw to 2mm Z gal purlins.
What screws to use and how to do it. Predrill? what sizes. What is best Philips head or square head. Will there be any ionisation between the screw composition and the purlin?

Thanks Steve

Hi Tony

T17 screws are self drilling screws for timber so it sounds like your spec is wrong, you need self drill screws for steel ..... or bolts.

@M Lonergan, I haven't found another post about removing bolts from concrete, so I thought that I would give you some pointers...

- Thread two threaded nuts onto the bolt, making sure that they are tight.
- Using a pair of pliers, pull the nuts in an upwards direction.
- On some occassions, you'll be lucky and the bolt with come out.

If this doesn't work, you can try using a pipe wrench and twist the top of the bolt to see if you can get it to come loose.
